Editor Tools

The Beadify Editor has four working areas: setup on the left, the pattern canvas in the center, a floating toolbar near the canvas, and the Pattern Inspector on the right.

Use the left side to choose the source image and generation settings. Use the floating toolbar for direct bead-grid edits. Use the right side to inspect the pattern, open detail views, and export.

Current Editor Workflow

Choose a source image from upload, Image Assets, or a JSON backup.
Set the brand, palette size, board type, and board count on the left.
Review palette constraints before generating: Used, Generation, and Excluded each open the right Details tab when more space is needed.
Click Update Grid to generate the editable pattern.
Edit beads in Pattern view, or use Compare to tune the source image and preview the draft result before applying it.
Check the Pattern Inspector, then export from the fixed right-side footer.

Source And Setup Controls

The left Source row controls the image behind the current pattern.

Upload / Replace: choose a local image for this project.
Library: choose an existing Image Asset as the current source image. This is available after sign-in.
Import JSON: restore a Beadify backup file as a local pattern project.

Changing the source image clears the current generated pattern and keeps the new source ready for regeneration. Check the brand, palette, board size, and advanced options, then click Update Grid.

Use Configuration to choose the bead brand and palette size. Board choices then follow the selected bead size: unavailable board types stay visible but disabled so you can see why they cannot be selected.

The Boards section shows the final bead grid, such as 58 x 58 beads. Choose the board type, then use the width and height steppers to decide how many boards the pattern should occupy. Beadify keeps the source image ratio intact inside the selected board frame; if the image and board shape do not match, the extra cells stay blank instead of stretching the image.

Palettes

The Palettes section is a summary, not a full color drawer.

Used: colors already present in the current pattern.
Generation: colors available for the next Update Grid run after palette, stash, mix, and exclusion rules.
Excluded: colors blocked from future generation.

Open any row to manage colors in the right Details tab. Excluded colors stay disabled for brush selection until you allow them again.

Advanced

The Advanced section includes source sampling, cleanup, dithering, and image adjustments. Image adjustments open in the right Details tab so you can preview the adjusted source against the draft pattern before updating.

Color Operations

These tools work on the specific colors in your pattern.

Pick Color

Use Pick Color from the floating toolbar to sample a bead from the editable pattern and make it the current Pencil color. Excluded colors cannot become the brush until you allow them again from the palette details.

Delete Color

Quickly remove a specific color from your entire design.

Select the Delete Color tool from the floating toolbar.
Click any bead of the color you want to remove, either on the canvas or in the Used Colors list.
Check the compact color swatch and bead count in the context panel.
Click Delete to erase that color from the visible pattern.

Delete Color does not show a second browser confirmation. If you remove the wrong color, use Undo to restore the previous pattern state.

Swap Colors

Exchange two used colors across the entire design.

Select the Swap Colors tool from the floating toolbar.
Click the first used color on the canvas or in the Used Colors list.
Click the second used color.
Check the two compact color swatches in the context panel.
Click Swap to exchange those colors across the visible pattern.

After Delete Color or Swap Colors runs, Beadify returns to the tool you were using before the temporary color action.

Grid Operations

Apply changes to the entire grid structure.

Reset Changes

Revert the current editing changes back to the editor baseline.

The baseline is the state loaded when you opened the project, or the most recent generated pattern after you updated the grid. Reset Changes is not a full "start over from source image" action.

Flip Horizontal

Mirror your design left-to-right. Useful for checking symmetry or creating mirrored pairs of designs.

Denoise / Clean

Automatically clean up "speckle noise" (stray single pixels) in your pattern.

Removes isolated single beads that don't match their neighbors.
Helps create cleaner, more blocky color areas that are easier to assemble.

Pattern Inspector

The right Pattern tab summarizes whether the current pattern is ready to export.

Setup: board layout, grid size, physical size, and palette.
Readiness: free PDF Pack limits, excluded colors, and high color-count warnings.
Top colors: the most-used colors and their share of the pattern.
Selection: click a used color to inspect bead count, share, brand, and palette.

When the pattern has many low-use or one-off colors, the Inspector can show a cleanup recommendation. Clean up colors is a Pro editing tool. Free users can still see the recommendation, but clicking the locked action opens the upgrade prompt instead of changing the pattern.

The right Details tab appears when a setup control needs a larger editor, such as palette color management or source image adjustments.

View Controls

The Pattern / Compare switch and source status badge sit above the canvas. Pattern is the editable bead grid. Compare is a preview mode for checking source-image adjustments beside the draft generated pattern.

Canvas controls such as Fit, Center, Guides, and Maximize live with the canvas. Guides controls both edge numbers and board division lines. At smaller zoom levels, edge numbers become less frequent so the canvas remains readable. These controls only affect how you inspect the pattern; they do not change bead data or exports.

Current Color Control

When the Pencil tool is active, the Quick Palette shows the current brush color.

Shows the currently active brush color.
Click it to re-open the full Add Color palette to switch colors quickly.

Export Entry

Use the fixed Export button at the bottom of the right panel when the pattern is ready. The export dialog includes PDF Pack, Image Export, SVG, XLSX, and JSON Backup options. See Export Options for the full export workflow.

If you are tuning a draft in Compare or Details, click Update Pattern before exporting so the downloaded files use the latest applied pattern.
